Coaching & Mentoring
Hersher Associates, Ltd. has developed a methodology for coaching and mentoring to assist healthcare leaders, not only in developing a plan, but also in how to be a good coach and mentor. Additionally we also have a module that helps individuals identify and appropriately utilize coaches and mentors.
Mentoring is defined as, "To serve as a trusted counselor or teacher, especially in occupational settings". A good coach may be defined as "a person who gives instruction". The differences are quite subtle. Both are required in the development and maintenance of our largest resource, our human capital.
Coaching and mentoring takes on two forms. One form is to develop our employees so they can be promoted and gain new skills to move up the ladder. The second form is to retain valued employees who need to be taught new skills. Both forms require great effort, time and insight to allow us to create our leaders of tomorrow.
